Whether looking for shortcuts to high search engine listings, or ways to make fast money online, people spend good money every day buying products that promise to get them ranked high in Google and other major search engines with little effort.
Sadly, most of these applications and tools are a waste of money.
If you have created and published a website or blog for promoting your home business, you’re probably working on ways to get listed in Google for keywords that people search for related to your business.
Here are some “search engine friendly” good practices that will help.
- make sure your content adds value – if it is totally original, so much the better
- know who your target audience is and write your content for them – Google exists to provide searchers with the information they need
- always remember you are writing for both the search engines and for real people – do not cram web pages full of keywords and content that looks spammy
- test every single on your site to make sure they work – broken links look bad and can hurt your efforts to rank well
- make sure each web page title and description relates to the content of that page
- make sure all your images are title and alt tagged correctly – all images should reside on your own site
- try and get as many one way back links to your website as possible, with anchor text that targets your keywords and what your site is about
- do not use free hosting
- install Google Analytics to track your visitors and where they come from
- keep improving and expanding your website regularly
All of the above things are simple, easy to do, and will help ensure that your home business website or blog is search engine friendly.
