Network Marketing – Four Ways to Overcome Discouragement

getting past discouragement in your network marketing businessIf you’re doing anything at all to build your network marketing business, you’re going to face discouragement at some point and have “down” days when you wonder if your business is going to work out.

This is perfectly normal, and happens to just about everyone who goes the extra mile to build a home based income. Time pressure, negative comments from others, there are many things that can get to you.

So, it is “okay” to feel down sometime. It doesn’t mean you’re failing or anything like that. Even the “heavy hitters” and top leaders feel this way sometime, but they are where they are  because they learned how to break free from it. You can, too.

Here are four ways you can work your way out of discouragement and get back on the right track.

  • Review your action plan. You should have written goals and a clear idea of why you’re building your network marketing business. If you don’t, you must decide what your business means to you, and what you want it to do for you. Be specific, and write down and visualize the benefits you’ll have as your income and success grows.
  • Set your priorities carefully. In our high-tech society, everybody is just way too busy. It can be hard to find time for a business. I have found that discouragement is often based on a perceived lack of progress, and lack of progress is often caused by not putting enough time into doing the right things. Examine how much you are REALLY doing to grow your business, and commit to making time for more activity where you need to.
  • Surround yourself with positive people. Maintain communication with those in your upline who are cheerful and enthusiastic when you talk to them. Commit to spending more time around people who (as a habit) look at the positive, bright side of things. They don’t have to be involved in your business, because people like this are encouraging by nature.
  • Finally, reduce the influence of negative people in your life. We all have friends and relatives who tend to look at the dark side of everything. I’m not saying to dump them or never speak to them, just try to spend your time with people who are positive and uplifting.
