the number one secret to mlm successHopefully, if you’ve just started your business, you’ve consulted with your upline and they have helped you create your MLM success plan. This is the action plan that will take you from 0 to whatever level of income you desire.

All businesses need a plan for success. A well thought out outline of the steps you need to take, including goals and benchmarks for achievement, beats the heck out of winging it and increases your odds of success dramatically.

People who have just started in MLM often ask, “what is the most important thing I can do to grow my income as quickly as possible?” How much study, preparation, planning, and perfecting of skills is necessary to become a superstar networker?

What do you think should be the top priority in your MLM success plan?

Most people start home based businesses part time, and have limited time to build because of full-time jobs and family responsibilities. How that time is spent largely determines your odds of success. The #1 secret is this – you need to spend most your time on activities that directly create income for you. Since we are in a people business where the objective is to build a team and work together, your top income producing activity will be talking to people and prospecting for your opportunity.

Two critical income producing activities:

  • get people to view your video or presentation
  • follow up, answer questions, and get their decision

It’s really, really easy to get sidetracked into spending too much time trying to prepare a perfect presentation, answer all questions without hesitation, and in general know as much as possible. After all, you don’t want to lose a great prospect by coming across as a newbie, or stumbling as you try to answer questions, right? Of course you don’t, but please understand that most people will not expect you to have all the answers.

Really, there is only a certain amount of prior preparation and planning that does any good before you start talking to people. A lot has to be learned by experience. Your enthusiasm and excitement about your product and opportunity is a LOT more persuasive than knowing all the comp plan details, product ingredients, possible objections, etc.

A very popular saying: you can’t say the wrong thing to the right person, and you can’t say the right thing to the wrong person.

Education IS critical, and you should block out time specifically for that. But, don’t let it stall you. In the beginning, while you’re learning as you go, rely on videos and presentation tools provided by your company and upline. Let them tell the story.

Your MLM success plan should focus on helping you find ways to meet more prospects, create relationships, and share the opportunity. Again, let the tools do the work. Get your prospects in front of the video, don’t try to explain everything yourself. Let the pros do it for you.

  • using professional presentations to do the explaining
  • meeting more people every day
  • building the relationships
  • following up
