Article directories and publishers are hungry for good, well-written content. Here is how it works.
You write an article (usually 400-600 words) about a topic related to your home business (your product, service, or opportunity). You then submit it to the top article directories by hand, or pay an article distribution service to submit for you (greater exposure in much less time).
When webmasters and publishers are looking for content on particular topics, they go to these directories and are allowed to use your article on their website or in their publications, so long as they leave your information (including a link back to your website) intact.
When you begin to have numerous articles circulating over time, you develop links to your home business website that can show up all over the place, including search engine listings. Article marketing is not a fast path to wealth, but rather a technique for establishing long-term credibility and publicity for your home business online.

You don’t have to be a professional writer. This is not a term paper. Your focus is providing useful information on a topic related to your home business. The style of a good article is often conversational. Formal, stuffy articles are out.
If you choose to hire someone to write articles for you, be aware that the many services offering cheap articles ($5 or so each) typically return very poorly written work. I’ve tried several of these services, and in almost all cases have had to practically rewrite the whole article to correct grammar and have it make sense. You get what you pay for here.
If you submit your articles yourself, Ezine Articles is the best place to start. If you want a service to submit to multiple directories for you, one good article distribution service that I can recommend is Submit Your Article.
Take care in choosing the title of your article. Make it appealing. If you saw your article’s title on the web somewhere, would you click on it?
