Are you ready to step up and become a leader in your business? Maybe you already have, but if there is any doubt in your mind, read on.
Becoming a leader in your network marketing business means the difference between mediocrity (with moderate to low income) and high achievement (the level where you achieve financial freedom and more).
I believe that not everyone has a solid grasp on what leadership really is. You can look at a successful person and say “there’s a leader” but what exactly does that mean? What qualities set a leader apart?
Unfortunately, many people in network marketing and other home businesses are, deep down, afraid of leadership. They sense that it carries with it responsibility that they would rather not take on. Leadership DOES carry responsibility with it, but honestly, anything else of significance that you achieve in your life will come with responsibility as well. It’s just one of those great truths that will always stand.
Becoming a Leader – Characteristics of a Leader
Let’s look at a few characteristics of a real leader. As you ponder each of these, think of how you fit in. This will give you an idea of where you are already doing things that leaders do. It will also help you see where there might be things you can focus on and strengthen your leadership skills.
Leaders are proactive and take initiative to make things happen. They do the right things to make their business thrive. They do not just sit and wait for others to tell them what to do.
Leaders build relationships and team up with others to create mutually beneficial partnerships. They reach out. They don’t hang out waiting for people to find them.
Leaders are consistent. They learn what it takes to achieve their business goals, or anything else in life, and they stay with it. They understand the value of persistent, consistent, daily action.
Leaders believe in themselves. They know that they have value and something to offer others, and they will not let negative and gloomy people tear them down.
Leaders are authentic and genuine. They think before they speak, and have a real compassion and drive to help others.
Leaders are “forever students” and place high value on self-development and striving to be the best they can be.
Leaders have clear, definite, and focused goals written down. They make it a point to review their goals frequently to ensure that they stay on course.
Leaders are listeners. They value true communication with others, and understand that effective communication is enhanced by listening more and talking less.
Leaders have a passion and enthusiasm for their business, and do not hesitate to share it with others. They believe in their mission and purpose, and focus on helping others.
Leaders will stumble, make mistakes, and experience failure and rejection in their business. They will, however, refuse to get discouraged and will pick themselves right back up and get back on track.
Leaders put the focus on others and understand that empowering others to achieve more is what makes THEM successful in business and life. They do not declare how wonderful THEY are, but how special YOU are.
Becoming a leader in your home business helps take you from wherever you are now to where you want to be. Where you want to be in your business, and in your life. But there is a catch….
Becoming a leader is hard work and requires dedication. The rewards are immense. Are you ready to step up?
