After considerable thought, I’ve decided to add a major new topic to my blog – Internet Marketing.
I’ll be talking about a lot of different Internet Marketing techniques that can help network marketers and home business builders get greater exposure, more traffic, and in general achieve greater success with promoting a home business online.
I love online network marketing, and online marketing in general. I’ve been a student of SEO (search engine optimization) and online marketing and promotion for a long time. I’ve applied much of what I’ve learned to building a successful network marketing business online.
If you’re serious about creating long-term success in online MLM and network marketing, your overall approach will involve using many traditional Internet Marketing techniques.
In general, some of the broad topics that we’ll discuss are:
- email marketing & building a mailing list
- social media optimization and marketing
- keyword research & analysis
- search engine marketing
- search engine optimization
- pay per click advertising
- article marketing
- link building
- getting traffic and leads
Don’t let this throw you, because it isn’t that complex. Really, it’s all about being found in searches, and reaching people out there who will be potential prospects for your opportunity.
When someone goes online with their network marketing business (especially when following the “attraction marketing” model), these are the first things they are typically taught to do (and it’s all good).
- create a blog for personal branding
- focus on connecting in social networking sites like Facebook
- create some sort of report or ebook and use it to build a mailing list
Once you have that going, the hope is that more and more people will visit your blog. Some will resonate with you and your message, and become business partners or prospects. So far so good!
However, there is another side of the equation that is often ignored or given little effort or thought. What about the millions of people who come online every week looking for a home business opportunity or a way to make extra money? Many of them are new online, and won’t be active in social networking or in a position to bump into you somewhere.
What will these opportunity seekers do? They will go to Google and start searching. You want your blog to be found in some of these searches! I’ve personally sponsored around 300 people online into a network marketing business. All of them came to me asking for more information about my business. How did they find me?
Many of these people landed on my web site after finding it in searches on Google and other search engines for various terms related to my specific MLM opportunity, or for terms related to home based business.
So, you’re looking at a couple of broad approaches to sponsoring people into your business.
- building relationships and connections through social media
- getting visitors to your blog (and leads) through search engine listings
One caveat about Internet Marketing tools and techniques – this is HUGE business and the web is full of promotions and hype for all types of products designed to “get ranked in Google” and so forth. Many of these tools and techniques are aimed at affiliate marketers who are trying to hit the top of Google for very specific terms related to a product they are selling. What you’re doing in network marketing is a little different. You’re still seeking traffic and leads, but your focus is not on “fast conversion” and making an immediate sale.
Your focus and objective will be to increase your visibility online. You are building a business based around creating relationships and business partnerships. What you want are qualified visitors and prospects who are presently looking for opportunity.
I already have a few posts discussing some Internet Marketing methods under my category “Website Promotion”. I will be refreshing these posts, adding additional content, and moving them to this new Internet Marketing category over the next few days. My desire is to share many of the methods and techniques for increasing visibility online and driving qualified prospects that have worked for me. Stay tuned!
Did you get some value from this post? If you did, I would really appreciate you sharing it with others! And, your comments are welcome below!
Got a minute? Take a look at what’s working in an online business for me...
Thats great that you are going to add internet marketing! There can be such a huge learning curve that breaking it down into manageable parts will make it much more newbie friendly. It would have been great to have those details when I first started out to really teach me what a capture page is, etc. Looking forward to your posts!
I’m looking forward to your internet marketing content. Thank you for pointing out how a lot of those online programs don’t really apply to what we are doing online with network marketing. You are right. Unlike affiliate marketers, we are in this for the long haul to make real connections with people.
Hi Eldon,
a great take. Thanks for discriminating between the goals of an internet affiliate marketer and a networker marketer using the internet. In network marketing it’s always about relationships and not about products and sales. That makes a huge difference, doesn’t it ?
Take care
